Hi everyone! I hope you’re all settling into your “Back to School” routines now and having a great time with your students. I know there are several people who read our blog but aren’t classroom teachers (like my dad, HI dad!) – we just want to take a moment to thank you all for your readership, feedback, questions and conversation. We appreciate you all and we’re going to hit 10,000 views very soon! We’ll celebrate when we do.

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about how my yoga practice informs my classroom teaching (you can check it out here). The Greater Victoria Teachers’ Association follows our blog and they contacted me to see if I’d be interested in turning my yoga/teaching post into a short article for their October 2013 issue of their quarterly magazine, The Advocate. Of course I said YES! The little article I wrote has now been “published” and you can find it here, on page 15.

What does this mini publication mean to me? Well, one day when I do my Masters of Education I plan to study and write about my involvement with yoga and my teaching practice and how the two complement each other. I did an inquiry course as part of my B. Ed and wrote at length about yoga and teaching for my final project; last year I did my yoga teacher training and talked/wrote at length about yoga and teaching there too (poor yoga students…I was the only teacher in the group). This little published piece is another stepping stone in the direction of my “one day Masters degree” – I’m pretty excited about it! Enjoy.

Thanks to GVTA for this opportunity!
